Privacy

Privacy policy

KhabarSaar is an Outback Yak product (ABN 11 672 730 773, Melbourne, Australia) and is governed by the same privacy commitments as the rest of the Outback Yak portfolio. This page is a plain-language summary tailored to what KhabarSaar actually does.

Last updated: April 18, 2026

Short version

  • Reading KhabarSaar does not require an account. We do not ask for your name, email, or identity to browse headlines.
  • We store headlines, publisher metadata, and links — not full article bodies, not your reading history.
  • Basic server logs and privacy-respecting analytics help us keep the site up and understand aggregate usage. No ad tracking, no third-party behavioural profiles.
  • We do not sell personal information to third parties.

Who we are

The operator

KhabarSaar is built and operated by Outback Yak (ABN 11 672 730 773), a Melbourne-based software studio. Outback Yak is the data controller for personal information collected through this site.

What we collect

Information we collect

We collect the minimum required to run a public news aggregator:

  • Server logs. Standard HTTP request metadata (IP address, user agent, path, timestamp, referrer) retained for a short period for security, debugging, and abuse prevention.
  • Aggregate analytics. Pageview counts and device class, collected in a way that does not build a cross-site profile of you.
  • Preferences. Theme and language choices stored in your browser’s localStorage. These never leave your device.
  • Correspondence. If you email us (for a takedown, partnership, or question), we keep the message and your reply address so we can respond and keep a record.

We do not currently offer user accounts, newsletters, or payments. If and when those features are added, this policy will be updated first.

How we use it

How we use information

  • Serve the site and keep it fast and secure.
  • Diagnose bugs, crawler issues, and abuse.
  • Measure, in aggregate, which headlines and publishers readers find useful, so we can shape the product.
  • Reply to correspondence and, where relevant, honour takedown or delisting requests from publishers.
  • Meet legal obligations under Australian law.

We do not:

  • Run ad networks or behavioural retargeting.
  • Sell personal information to third parties.
  • Build reader profiles to be resold.

Cookies

Cookies and similar technologies

KhabarSaar uses a minimal set of first-party cookies and browser storage: session integrity, theme preference, and aggregate analytics. We do not set third-party advertising cookies. Most modern browsers let you clear site storage or block cookies per site; doing so will not prevent you from reading headlines.

Sharing

When we share information

We share personal information only in narrow cases:

  • Infrastructure providers that host the site and its database, bound by their own privacy obligations.
  • Legal and regulatory authorities, where disclosure is required by law.
  • Professional advisors under confidentiality, for the normal operation of the business.

Some providers are located outside Australia. We use providers that offer protections reasonably aligned with Australian privacy standards.

Your rights

Your rights

You can ask us to:

  • Tell you what personal information we hold about you.
  • Correct information that is inaccurate.
  • Delete information, where we are not required to keep it.
  • Stop contacting you for any non-transactional reason.

Email contact@outbackyak.io with your request. We aim to respond within a reasonable time and, for takedown requests from publishers, typically within 72 hours.

Publishers

If you run one of the outlets we link to

KhabarSaar stores headlines, publication times, and short excerpts pulled from publicly advertised RSS feeds, and links back to the original article on your site for every item. We honour robots.txt and respect directives that prohibit aggregation.

To request removal, correction of ownership/editorial metadata, or to discuss a partnership, email contact@outbackyak.io. Reply target: 72 hours.

Security

Security

We apply reasonable technical and organisational safeguards appropriate to a headlines-only public site. No online service can promise perfect security, and we will not pretend otherwise.

Changes

Changes to this policy

When this policy changes materially, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top and, where the change is substantive, note it on the About page.
